Opus 406, “Chaotic Cosmos”

A brilliant example of abstract expression, this painting seems constantly pulsing with internal movement of colored patterns.  Having tested many color schemes, Cano decided on a pomegranate red background, in vibrant contrast to the blues and greens that interact as if fused inside the central motif (starting in the left top corner as you descend it goes through shades -as Cano intended).  More texture appears in the frame, though the focus remains on the circling life-forms that seem to contain its thickly-layered core–as mainly visible in freely-animated gold and white strands. Overall, he’s taken liberties to raise his level of innovative designs (as did Matisse).
