Opus 401, “The Purple Ballerina”

In seeking to elaborate on the re-positioning of an iconic subject (by Degas) Cano has faced new challenges related to color mixing and use of acrylic skins for enrichment of surfaces.  His primary tonalities -shades of yellow and green – help define the 3-D camisole, as does an ‘aura of green’ light which surrounds her entire body.  A garland crown echoes the abundant floral display, thus capping the dancer’s balanced pose.
