Opus 266, Nancy’s Choice

The foundational basis and dynamic details of this painting are well differentiated, as seen in the hovering vase overtaken by the massing of artfully clustered flowers. At the same time, sprays of upwardly mobile paint contrast with more earthbound bits and pieces below. The perfect geometry of the glass vessel, with a trapezoidal neck atop a spherical base, serves to link the background shades of green and black. Is this meant as a tabletop arrangement or as an earthbound creation with its own spatially distinct horizon line? Cano has left it to the spectator’s own viewpoint as to which level(s) of abstraction and reality ultimately take precedence.
